Liaison Librarians

Liaison librarians are individual librarians that are assigned to specific academic departments or colleges at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Liaison librarians function as instructional partners with faculty by developing information literacy instruction and providing library research instruction to the campus community at large. Liaisons are also responsible for selecting discipline-specific materials and developing the library's collections in their assigned subject areas.

Liaison librarians provide:

  • library instruction or support sessions customized for specific courses or topics, at the request of instructors or student organizations
  • in-person consultations or online tutorials, ranging from information literacy concepts to citation software like Zotero or Endnote
  • individualized research assistance for students, including appointments
  • research guides (LibGuides) for specific disciplines, classes or projects
  • collaboration on creation of information literacy assignments and assessments
  • assistance with ordering materials for the library's collections that support the academic programs on campus
  • help with instructional material or tools, e.g., educational technology, course reserves, online tutorials, and D2L links to library materials, images, audio, video, or other multimedia)
