Research Policies and Services
The Special Collections/Area Research Center/UW-Whitewater Archives is open to the public for research purposes. Reference services are available to distance patrons. Response time may vary due to staffing availability.
If you cannot visit us in person, requests should be submitted in writing via our Special Collections Research Request Form. Staff will perform a search for relevant information and make photocopies or scans of materials found as requested. Fees may apply.
To Request Reference Services
To request reference services, submit a Special Collections Research Request Form. Include the question you are researching and as much information as you know about the subject, including variant spellings of names and the counties in which the individuals were located. Be sure to also include your contact information, including your mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
A fee schedule for all remote (i.e., email, mail, or phone requests of patrons not on campus) research requests has been established. Please view Special Collections Research Fees for Remote Patrons page. Scans or copies beyond those included will be $0.25/page. The staff reserves the right to change these fees for whatever reason they deem appropriate, additional fees for items requested for commercial purposes or the waiver of fees in exceptional situations. All fees will be calculated after items are located, and the charges will be included with finished requests sent to patrons. There is no fee for unsuccessful searches.
For in-house copies/scans, staff will charge $0.10/page with UWW-ID or $0.25/page for general public.
Checks should be made payable to UW-Whitewater Library.
