Making Links to Specific Full-text Online Articles

Faculty/teaching academic staff may provide links to specific full-text articles from several databases in their online syllabi or other WWW pages. This capability is available with most of the library's subscription journal databases that provide full-text articles, including Ebscohost, WilsonWeb, JSTOR, Lexis-Nexis, Emerald Library, and Project MUSE databases. It is not possible to link directly to specific full-text articles in ProQuest and SoftLine databases.

In most cases the URL to use in a link appears in the "Netsite:" or "Location:" box of the Netscape browser when a specific full-text article is displayed. To provide a link to a specific article in an Ebscohost database, first do a search for and display the desired article. Click on the "Print/E-mail/Save" button and then under item 2 on the next display select to have "Links to marked items" included. Click on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page to display the "persistent HTML link" to the article.

What Journals are Online?

How can you find out which journals are available full-text online? Try Andersen Library's
Electronic Journals webpage. In addition to links to a list of Andersen Library's subscription ejournals and collections of ejournals, near the bottom of the page is a link to UW-Oshkosh's Periodicals Available Full-Text from Online Sources. This is an alphabetical listing of the journals from which full-text articles are made available through indexing and abstracting databases, such as Ebscohost and WilsonWeb databases. The UW-Oshkosh listing closely matches Andersen Library's, except that Andersen Library does not provide access to the Periodical Abstracts titles.

Library Computer Workstation Upgrade

Many of the public workstations in Andersen Library are being replaced for spring semester. The new machines do not provide icons for access to the library's online catalog or specific databases. Access to these resources will be through links on Andersen Library's webpages.

Although Notepad will no longer be available on library workstations, copying and pasting selected sections of text will be possible using Netscape Composer (Select it from the Communicator pull-down menu.).

New Online Resources Added

NOTE: Databases are available from UW-W campus workstations. UW-W students and staff may access databases from off-campus workstations by following instructions on the library's
Off-Campus Users page.
