EBSCOhost Problems:
Clearing Cache and Accepting Cookies

If you are having trouble connecting to EBSCOhost and you get the error message "Login to EBSCO host has failed. Please exit and login again" try clearing your browser's cache and making sure the browser is accepting cookies. To do this:

Netscape (7.1):

  1. Choose Edit and then Preferences from the browser toolbar.
  2. In the left-hand menu, double-click on Privacy & Security to open that menu.
  3. Choose the Cookies option.
  4. In the Cookies display, click in the radio button next to Enable all cookies.
  5. In the left-hand menu, double-click on Advanced to open that menu.
  6. Choose the Cache option.
  7. Click on the Clear Cache button.
  8. Make sure that Compare the page in the cache to the page on the network is set to either Once per session or Every time I view the page.
  9. Click on OK button to save your changes and close the Preferences window.

Explorer (6.0):

  1. Choose Tools and then Internet Options from the browser toolbar.
  2. In the General tab, click on the Settings button labeled in the Temporary Internet Files section.
  3. Check for newer versions of stored pages should be set to Every time you start Internet Explorer.
  4. Click on OK button to close the Settings window.
  5. Click on the Delete Files button under Temporary Internet Files.
  6. A confirmation window will pop up. Click on OK button to delete the files and close the window.
  7. Choose the Privacy tab.
  8. Click on the Advanced button.
  9. Select Override automatic cooking handling and choose the Accept or Prompt options for first- and third-party cookies. Also check Always allow session cookies.
  10. Click on OK button at the bottom of the window to close the Privacy tab.
  11. Click on OK button at the bottom of the window to close the Internet Options window.
