How a Search by Title Works

When you select to search by title in the Basic Search mode, your search is limited to the Title field. Although every record in the catalog is searched, only items that begin with the title words that you have entered will be retrieved.

For example, if you did a title search for Lincoln it would only retrieve titles that began with the word Lincoln. It would not retrieve items that were written by Lincoln.

This makes it easy to find a particular title without having to sort through a larger list that may contain results you don't want.
