How to Look up Subject Headings

Subject Heading example

  1. In the Basic Search mode,  select Subject Heading* from the Search By menu by clicking on it.
  2. Type a known subject heading in the Search For box. You do not have to enter the entire subject heading, but the more complete the heading the more focused your search will be. Enter proper names last name first. Do not include any punctuation, including hyphens.
  3. Click on

Note: The search by subject keyword in the Advanced Search mode is very different from the search by subject heading that is being described here. It is actually a keyword search limited to the Subject field, and directly retrieves a Title List of records containing the search terms, in any order, in the Subject Heading.
