Universal Borrowing (UB)
UB is a FREE interlibrary loan service that allows UW-Whitewater students, staff and faculty to borrow materials from any UW System library and have it sent to the University Library for check out. Highlights include:
- UB is fast: most items arrive in 2-4 weekdays
- UB is free: Use it before ILLiad for interlibrary loan, since ILLiad has a min. $1 charge
- An email notice is sent to your UW-W email account when the item arrives at the University Library.
- Items you may borrow include: books, videos, DVDs, tapes, records, microfilm & government documents
- Some things are NOT available via UB, including: special collections, periodicals (journals, magazines & newspapers), periodical articles, reference & other non-circulating materials.
- Check the status of your UB request after a few days, using your Personal Record. Once an item has arrived at the Library, you may come in and pick it up, you need not wait to be notified.
Detailed UB instructions are in a separate tutorial located at < http://library.uww.edu/guides/ub/tutorial/ >. To return to the Catalog Tutorial quickly when you are done, copy the URL in the browser's Address/Location box above.
Go straight to the UB portal in the Library Catalog if you are ready to use UB now.
For assistance, contact a reference librarian at (262) 472-1032, by email or chat or in person at the Library's Reference Desk.
