Holds
To place a Hold is to ask that an item from the University Library be held for you when it is returned to the Library. A Hold prevents the other person from renewing the item. Any number of people may place a Hold on an item, so they will be honored in date order. This feature may NOT be used for items are on the shelf; you must retrieve these items yourself. The only exception to this rule is Video Booking by faculty for classroom use.
To place a Hold:
- Click on the Requests button at the top, or link at bottom, of the Item Record.
- Select your Home Library from the list (UW-Whitewater Library is the default).
- Type your UW-W ID number and last name in the boxes. Click on .
- Choose Hold for the type of request. Click on .
- Complete the form by typing in your ID number. Click on .
- Click on Logout when finished.
- If the item is returned before the Not Needed After date, i.e. within 30 days, you will be notified using your UW-W email and it will be held for you at Circulation.
For assistance, contact a reference librarian at (262) 472-1032, by email or chat or in person at the Library's Reference Desk.
