Requesting Materials
There are four ways to borrow materials that are not currently available in Andersen Library:
- Hold - If an item from Andersen Library has been checked out by another person, you may request that it be held for you when it is returned to the Library.
- Recall - If an item from Andersen Library has been renewed by another patron, and you do not wish to wait for it to be returned at the end of the checkout period, you may request a Recall at the Circulation Desk in the Library.
- Universal Borrowing (UB) - UB is a free service that allows UW-Whitewater students, staff and faculty to borrow materials from any UW System library and have them sent to the Andersen Library for check out.
- Interlibrary Loan (ILL) - Materials of any type may be requested using ILL, although the best success is with books and periodical articles. ILL is requested using the ILLiad form, so will not be discussed in further detail in this tutorial. See the < Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery > web page for more information.
For assistance, contact a reference librarian at (262) 472-1032, by email or chat or in person at the Library's Reference Desk.
