Changing Weight
When using two or more terms in a search by relevance, adding the + symbol before a term will influence how it is weighted and ranked in the Title List. It becomes more important and moves up the list of results. If no words are prefixed with a plus sign (+), the Catalog assigns each one an equal weight, and follows the default relevance formula. For example, searching for the words mental illness elderly in the Catalog will find Item Records that include one or more of the words.
![]()
Typing + in front of the word(s) tells the Catalog to retrieve Item Records containing at least the word(s). For example, entering mental illness +elderly instructs the Catalog to find records containing the word elderly, perhaps one or both of the others.
![]()
Adding quotation marks around two or more words will cause the Catalog to search for these words as a phrase. For example, entering "mental illness" elderly will cause the Catalog to search for Item Records with the words mental and illness next to each other in any field and/or those with the word elderly in any field.
