Search by Keyword
What is a Keyword?
A keyword is a word or term that best summarizes the information that you are trying to find. For example, if you are looking for information on the treatment of depression in young children, you could use any of these terms as a keyword: treatment, therapy, child, children, infants, depression, mental illness, psychological disorders, etc.
What is Keyword Searching?
Searching by keyword is broad and flexible. Unlike other types of searches, it looks at every field in a record for a match. It also allows the freedom to choose terms instead of using pre-determined controlled vocabulary, as when searching by Subject Heading.
How to Select Searching by Keyword
- Basic Search - select Keyword(s)-combine with and, or, not from the Search By menu
- Advanced Search - select Keyword Anywhere from the Search By menu
