Basic Search
Why Use the Basic Search?
The Basic Search has a simple display with a single search box. It is best used for:
- Keyword searching of all fields
- Searching for a title when the first few words are known
- Browsing in a single field, such as Author, Subject Heading or Call Number
- Absolute beginners, because the search tips are at the bottom of the display!
How to Get to the Basic Search
The Basic Search is the default search mode for the Catalog, this means that when the catalog is opened, it is the first screen to appear. To open the Basic Search from another search mode, click on the Basic Search tab at the top of the search display. If not in a search mode, click on the New Search button, then on the Basic Search tab.
