Searching
| Basic Search | Advanced Search | Course Reserves | Recent Acquisitions |
The first two search modes, Basic and Advanced, are virtually interchangeable and may be used to find anything in the Library, including Course Reserves and Recent Acquisitions. The search and browse techniques for both are similar, although how a search is constructed varies. This difference is explained in the Techniques sections.
The Course Reserves search is used to find materials set aside (reserved) for students in specific classes. Hard copy materials such as books, video recordings and periodical (journal, magazine, newspaper) articles are put on reserve at the Reserve / Circulation Desk in the Library. Electronic Reserve (eReserve) materials are usually periodical articles or book chapters, and are available on the Internet.
The Recent Acquisitions search is used to find new Library materials simply by selecting options from three menus, so no further explanation is offered in this tutorial.
