How a Search by Author Works
![]() |
An author may be a writer, editor, performer, association, company, conference or government agency. An item may have several authors. When you search by author, your search is limited to the author field and it is actually a browse. This means that instead of retrieving a list of materials containing the search terms anywhere in the record, it retrieves an alphabetical list of authors beginning with the exact name entered, or the name most closely matching and following the one entered. You then click on the name of the correct author to view a list of what the library has by her. Searching by author is the fastest and easiest way to find an author's works, since you won't have to wade through a long list containing irrelevant results. |
