40 Days of Nonviolence: Building the Beloved Community
40 years ago, on April 4, 1968, civil rights leader King was assassinated in Memphis, TN. This year, starting on January 21, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service, and running for 40 days a new initiative encourages individuals, families, schools, religious groups and other organizations to plan discussions, service projects and activities to promote King’s message of nonviolence and social change.
