ILLiad is a new automated system which will greatly benefit you when doing research.

  • Interlibrary Loan allows UW-W students, faculty and staff borrow materials not owned by the University Library from local, national and sometimes international libraries. It is also possible to use the service to order books, government documents, videos, etc. not available through Universal Borrowing from the UW system.
  • Document Delivery allows faculty, staff, graduate students and distance education students request articles owned by the University Library to be scanned so that they can access them from any Internet ready computer.

To use these services, begin on the University Library homepage. From the Services menu, select Borrow from Other Libraries, then click on Interlibrary Loan in the left sidebar. Log in using your UW-W ID number and last name. 

Interlibrary Loan

Students, faculty and staff of UW-Whitewater can borrow books, videos, CDs, DVDs, tapes, records, government documents, microfilm, and journal articles not owned by the University Library through Interlibrary Loan.

  1. Fast and convenient - request and track materials online, anywhere, any time. Articles are even received online!
  2. Uses your official UW-W email account, so remember to check it.
  3. Speedy delivery!!
    • Journal, magazine and newspaper articles usually arrive at the Library in 3-5 business days.
    • Books and other items usually arrive at the Library in 5-7 business days.
  4. Merely $1.00 per filled request, please pay on pickup.
  5. Remember to try Universal Borrowing before Interlibrary Loan because that's a free service.

Document Delivery

Document Delivery allows faculty, staff, graduate students and distance education students to request journal, magazine and newspaper articles owned by UW-Whitewater to be accessed from their desktop computer.

  1. Make Document Delivery requests using the ILLiad form.
  2. Document Delivery staff then load the article online & email you a link.
  3. Uses your official UW-Whitewater email account, so remember to check it (or forward your messages).
  4. Articles are saved as PDF files, so can be viewed using the free Adobe Acrobat reader! Download this program at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html.
  5. Merely $1.00 per filled request, you will be billed via your library account.
  6. Super Speedy Delivery!! Turnaround time is generally 1-3 weekdays.
