
Wireless Laptops
Does your group need to watch a DVD? Study best curled up in a corner? Prefer the quietness of the third floor?
Don't be tied down!
A University Library laptop with wireless connection is just what you need!
- Who: Current UW-W students, faculty, and instructional academic staff*
- What:A laptop checked out from Circulation(or your own wireless ready laptop)
- When: Any time the Library is open
- Checked out laptops are good for a single two-hour timeslot in the Library
- Faculty & instructional academic staff may also check out laptops overnight
- Where: Just about anywhere in the library, even the elevator
- How: Use it for any University related purpose in accordance with University policies, including Computers/Computer Based Information Access and Responsibilities in Using the Internet and Network Resources at UW-Whitewater

*To Borrow a Laptop You Must Have:
- A valid UW-W ID card and a state ID or driver's license
- A completed "Borrower's Responsibility Agreement" filled out by you and a member of the Circulation Staff
Other Caveats for Library Owned Laptops
- Disclaimer: The Library is not responsible for any damage to user's removable disk (CD, DVD, floppy, zip, etc.) or loss of data that may occur due to malfunctioning library hardware/software
- Fines apply to all users including students, faculty, and teaching academic staff, who return laptops damaged, late, or not at all. Unpaid fines will be placed on the patron's library record and transferred to Student Billing
- No food or drink is allowed near Library computers
- Laptops come loaded with lots of hardware and software, but mice, headphones and external drives are optional
- Laptops are available on a first come, first served basis. No holds may be placed on them, although you may get on a waiting list
- Laptop may be renewed once at the Circulation Desk, if no one else is waiting for it
- Laptop MUST BE LOGGED OFF THE NETWORK before shutting down, otherwise the system takes 10 minutes to clear
- Returns must be made in person to a Circulation Staff member, who will examine the laptop and complete the "Checkout/Checkin Checklist", which may take up to 10 minutes to complete. The laptop must be turned off before it is returned.
