SuperSearch
Faster than Willy Warhawk, more powerful than EBSCOhost, it's SuperSearch!
Fast! Convenient! Just click on SuperSearch on the Library homepage and you're in!
In August 2005, Andersen Library made SuperSearch available to UW-W students, faculty and staff. This amazing new resource is designed to save time and effort when researching by allowing for "federated searching," or searching several databases from different systems simultaneously. Most of the 168 databases on campus can be searched through SuperSearch, eight at a time.
For example, last year if you wanted to figure out whether your roommate was schizophrenic or bipolar and how best to deal with it, you might search PsycINFO (EBSCOhost), Social Sciences Full Text (WilsonWeb) and Social Work Abstracts (WebSPIRS) in search of the answer. At least three separate searches would be required. Now, with SuperSearch you can search all of these at one time. Wow!
In addition to federated searching, SuperSearch has several other wonderful features. Locate articles quickly using Find It. Use My Space to:
- Personalize It! Set up unique sets of databases to fit your every need.
- Save It! Set up searches and save results online for later use.
- Alert! Set up automatic email notification of new articles on your favorite topics.
This is a new service which is constantly being improved. For the latest tips on using SuperSearch check out the How to Use SuperSearch guide.
