VII. Leased Collection
(rev. 2/03)
Andersen Library leases a "best sellers" or leisure reading collection (McNaughton Collection) to provide recreational and popular reading materials for the University community. While the contract varies annually, generally Andersen Library receives about 500 new titles a year of biographies, fictions, non-fictions, and books on entertainment/trivia, hobby, craft, home improvement, etc.
Recommendation for selection of this collection is open to all faculty and staff. The monthly list from which selections are made is kept at Circulation until the deadline date. The Circulation Coordinator and Technical Processing Coordinator make final selections based on popularity of the title and the needs of the Library. Those wishing to be on the email list to be notified on the new monthly list can leave message at the Circulation.
Twenty percent of the new titles received may be retained by Andersen Library for addition to the permanent collection, and thus twenty percent of the leasing fee is paid out of the library materials budget. Additional titles may be purchased periodically from this collection at a used book price. Attempts are made during the selection process to take advantage of this provision.
