What's your last name?
I know it sounds like a silly question, but your last name, also called your surname, may not be what you think it is. It's what the University thinks it is. In the previous example, Warhawk is the the last name. Below are common causes and solutions to name problems with the Proxy Server.
- Has your name changed for any reason?; If you did not notify the University, you will still need to use the name from your official record.
- Is your name over 10 characters long? It may have been shortened by the computer system, so try deleting the last letters one at at time and resubmitting.
- Do you come from a country, such as China, where the surname is generally placed before the proper name? If so, try typing your proper name in the last name box.
- Is your name hyphenated? Most hyphenated names were changed when entered into the system. Try using the name on your HawkCard. Common changes include: deleting the hyphen, compounding the last names, or using just one of the last names. Thus, Smith-Garcia could become any of the following: Smith Garcia, SmithGarcia, SmithGarci, Smith, Garcia.
