Catalog Tutorial Introduction
The Andersen Library Catalog is a tool you use to efficiently and effectively identify and locate things in Andersen Library. It helps you find out what is in the Library collections by a particular author or title or on a certain subject.
The types of materials which are available in the Library include: books, government documents, journals, magazines, video recordings, CDs, maps and more. The Catalog contains records for these materials, but not the items themselves. An exception to this rule is that some records contain links to items located elsewhere on the Internet, such as electronic books (ebooks), government documents and course reserve articles. Each Catalog record includes information about an item or set of items, including its author, title, publication date, library location, whether is it on the shelf, etc.
Note: Although you may use the Catalog to determine if the Library has a print subscription to a particular periodical, such as Newsweek, you cannot use it to locate articles in a periodical; for that you would use a periodical index or database.
For assistance, contact a reference librarian at (262) 472-1032, by email or chat or in person at the Library's Reference Desk.
